What to expect during prenatal visits

• Your first appointment is about you getting to know us and us getting to know you. We will review your medical history with you and discuss your hopes and desires for this pregnancy and birth. If you have not yet had an opportunity to tour the birth center, you may also be able to do so before this appointment.

• As your care with Ohio Birth Center continues, you’ll get to know the staff and enjoy our family room-style lobby. After checking in, you can help yourself to a refreshment or snack from the kitchen or check out the many books in our lending library.

• Over the course of your pregnancy, you’ll meet with all of our midwives. With appointments 2-4X longer than traditional OB appointments, you’ll have plenty of time to make sure you and your baby are healthy, connect with your care team, and have all of your questions answered.

• You can expect to spend 30-60 minutes with your midwife at appointments. We will make sure baby is growing well, listen to heart tones, monitor your blood pressure, and more. Additionally, your lab draws and ultrasounds are all done at Ohio Birth Center!

• Our midwives, nurses, and staff care about you and what you’re experiencing during your pregnancy. We want to hear about how you’re feeling, the pressures and stresses you are facing, and the ways you cope and feel cared for and supported. We hope to give you an experience that helps you feel confident during your pregnancy journey.

Ohio Birth Center also offers various classes for pregnant people, parents, and community members on a wide variety of topics.
