We don’t rush the golden hours after birth

For the first four to six hours after birth, we give space for as much uninterrupted bonding time as possible and we do not separate baby from you, their parents, unless it’s urgent.

We encourage skin-to-skin time (for all parents!) and we do not rush the first latch, allowing baby to lead the way for a relaxed initial breast/chestfeeding experience.

Families are able to rest and eat together and, when ready, the newborn exam is done by your nurse midwife within arms reach of you.

Before you leave, you’re welcome indulge in a healing postpartum herbal bath for you and your baby (a great time for photos!).

Most birthing parents are stable and well enough to head home about 4-6 hours after giving birth, but don’t worry, we’ll be checking in with you frequently…
